It's no worries for Avant and it Backhoe series as the NEW OH&S Standards are introduced meaning all Backhoe are to be fitted with SEATBELTS and ROPS (Roll Over Protection Structure) so what's the big news then?. (as seen below)
The new standards have meant that what was acceptable is now obsolete. (But Avant has already met these standards for 9 years NOW!)
Initially the simple way was for the other manufacturer's to make the backhoe attach to the front of Mini Loaders through the use of the standard quick hitch front mounting plate. This then required the operator to mount and sit above the mini loader to operate it, which meant the chance of getting injured was very high due to the operators seating arrangement and the possibility of falling into the hole that you were digging and this was fine for other manufacturers up until recently introduced amendments to Occupational Health and Safety standards by Regulators.
Other Mini Loader manufactures have not been able to have the same measures or have the same design as Avant because it takes an incredible amount of work to have equipment certified, and they are not capable to do so due to the design of STAND ON machines, they have looked for shortcuts or ways to try and dodge around the standards, and have turned into cumbersome or backhoe loader type machines adding extra weight, Length and instability to the machines, and some don't even have a seat or ROPS. Meanwhile Avant have not had to change a thing!
The Avant backhoe design has ensured that the operator can be safely seated under a ROPS structure while using the backhoe attachment. By still being seated in the normal operation area of the loader on the suspension seat provided and operating under the machines own ROPS structure means you still get good 360 degrees visibility and comfort is maintained at the highest level. By being able to sit in the normal operating area of the machine means that the operator can operate the backhoe attachment, and when you need to move the machine ,operate all of its boom, Bucket, and Hydraulic controls from the same area, meaning work is performed faster and more ergonomic than any other Mini Loader (no having to move back to operator area to move machine or standing up for entire operation). Also by having a seat the operator remains comfortable and this lowers fatigue and increases safety even more”.
